Kannai-Kangai-District Revitalization Promotion Plan
Last updated on December 27, 2024.
Kannai Kangai-District, which has a history and charm since its opening of the port and has been driving the Yokohama economy, has been in a difficult situation in recent years due to land subsidence (the number of employees has decreased by about 35,000 and product sales has decreased by about 50,000 in the last 10 years).
In addition, the city hall, which is located in the center of the district, has many issues such as a decline in citizen services due to aging and decentralization, non-efficiency in business, and floor rent burden. We have been developing a new plan to revitalize Kannai and Kangai-District.
In formulating the plan, we held a study group consisting of experts and local stakeholders, a local exchange meeting consisting of people from the Neighborhood Associations in Kannai and Kangai-District, as well as a public opinion solicitation and symposium. In March 2010, we formulated the Kannai-Kangai-District Revitalization Promotion Plan.
In March 2011, the Kannai-Kangai-District Revitalization Promotion Plan Action Plan was formulated as a concrete initiative to realize the plan, and efforts are being made by local organizations in each district. In addition, as initiatives to prioritize, we are promoting the regeneration of business functions, strengthening migration, and studying ways to utilize the city center function guidance system.
Formulation of the Kannai-Kangai-District Revitalization Plan
Based on discussions with local people and experts, in March 2010, we formulated the Kannai-Kangai-District Revitalization Promotion Plan based on opinions received through public opinion solicitation and symposiums.
