City Councilor

The City Counsil is made up of members elected by the direct vote of the people who have the right to vote.
Japanese citizens aged 18 and over who have Address in the city for more than three months have the right to elect a city council member (voting right), and those aged 25 or older who have the right to vote You have the right to run for a city council member (voting right).
The number of City Counsil members is set at 86 by law. Municipal council members are elected for each of the 18 administrative districts, but the number of members elected in each ward is determined in proportion to their population.
The term of office of city council members is set to be four years. However, if elected in the by-elections, the term of office of the predecessor will be the term of office.
The term of office of the current Diet member is from April 30, 2023.
