Progress so far
●Saturday, April 1, 2017: Opening event
An opening event was held on April 1, 2017 to commemorate the public opening of the garden.
Unfortunately, it was raining on the day, and it was cold that I couldn't imagine in April, but many people gathered and we were able to open safely.
After the commemorative tape cut, the students who are project members explained each area in charge, and introduced the plants that were planted to the participants.
Various flowers will bloom in the garden from now on. I would be happy if it became a green spot loved by the local people.
●Saturday, March 25, 2017: Cherry blossom viewing walk
On March 25, 2017, as a second event, we held a walking event to let people know about the charm of HRG while enjoying the cherry blossoms around Nakagawa Station.
On the day of the event, a total of 64 people participated, including guides and project members.
Unfortunately, the cherry blossoms were so late that they could hardly be seen, and it was a cherry blossom viewing such as magnolia and peaches, but it was a fun walk with an experienced guide.
In the garden, there were explanations from students who were members of this project, and it was a good PR opportunity.
●From December 2016 to: Regular work (10:00 to 12:00 on the first Saturday of every month, 13:00 to 15:00 on the third Wednesday)
●Sunday, November 13, 2016: Tanemaki, Hanaue Event
On November 13, 2016, as the first event, we planted seeds and planted flowers.
First, Mr. Hatazawa gave a greeting and Mr. Shioiri, a representative of the NPO Gurutto Green Road, who has been working as the secretariat of this project, talked about his thoughts on the area and initiatives.
Professor Iijima, a professor at Tokyo City University, explained the significance of urban greening and planting. After that, we all had fun creating a garden.
Pansy flowers were also planted, making it a more wonderful green spot.
●Early November 2016: Development by local communities, preparation for events, etc.
Lavender planting was carried out by local residents near the southern entrance.
In addition, preparations were made to remove stones and roots where bulbs and seedlings were planted at the event, and to put humus.
●From late October to early November 2016: Development by Tokyo City University
Planting was carried out by students from the Iijima Laboratory of Tokyo City University and the Urban Greening Study Group.
A variety of plants such as daikondora were planted along the stage in the center of the garden, sedam such as giraffe along the roadside.
Utilizing the stones that came out during plowing, he also made a stylish walking path.
It has become a wonderful garden thanks to the serious work, such as working silently even when the sun goes down and dark.
●Saturday, October 29, 2016: PR at Fureai Festa Nakagawa
At the Fureai Festa Nakagawa held on October 29, 2016, we publicized the efforts of this project and the 33rd National Urban Greenery Yokohama Fair.
On the day, students from Tokyo City University also came to the booth, and continued to work together with the local community.
●Mid- to late October 2016: Mowing, tilling (returning of the heavens), sowing of white clovers, maintenance work for passages and entrances by contractors
As a foundation maintenance, we entrusted it to a contractor to cut grass and cultivate (return to heaven and earth). I could see the ground, which had been hidden by weeds, and the whole picture of the land appeared.
In addition, we planted white clover in a part of the garden. In addition, the passage was separated by stakes and strings so that the passage could be understood, and crushed stones were laid near the entrance.
I'm finally ready to create a garden.
●Saturday, September 3, 2016: Hayabuchi River Cleanup Strategy 2016
During the annual “Hayabuchi River Cleanup Strategy”, mowing and picking up trash were carried out. At the same time, we publicized the efforts of this project to the participants of the Cleanup Strategy.
●Around August 2016: Before the start of activities
The grass is growing so much that mowing twice a year cannot keep up.
