Decide what you want to do

You need permission under the Food Sanitation Law to operate.
The type of business license varies depending on what you want to do.

  • I want to do a cafe at home ⇒ Restaurant sales

  • I want to make and sell confectionery at home ⇒ Confectionery manufacturing business
  • I want to make sweets at home and wholesale them (take them to other stores and sell them) ⇒ Confectionery manufacturing business

Obtain a business license

In many cases, it is necessary to remodel your home etc. Let's proceed with the procedure in the next step.

1.Consultation on renovation drawings (Health Sanitation Division) before construction

2.Prior to construction, we also confirmed laws and regulations other than food-related matters.

3.Construction work

4.Qualification of food hygiene manager (outside site)

5.Preparation of a “hygiene management in line with HACCP” plan

Points for renovation

  • Apart from kitchens for home use and cooking classes, there is a commercial kitchen.
  • Commercial kitchens are divided by counters and doors to prevent contamination of food.
  • If you have animals, the commercial kitchen is a room divided by walls and doors from floor to ceiling.
  • The kitchen for commercial use is free from pollution from the outdoors and is large enough according to the work content.
  • There is a toilet-only toilet washer (a faucet in the toilet tank or a home wash basin used for face washing and toothpaste are not allowed)

Food businesses need to handle safe and secure food more than when serving meals and sweets to family and friends.

1.Hygiene management in line with HACCP
Food business operators make plans to handle food hygienically and record daily.

2.Responsibilities of Food Sanitation Officers
Implement “hygiene management in accordance with HACCP” and take the necessary precautions to handle food hygienically. Students will attend seminars on a regular basis to acquire new knowledge.

3.Food labeling
Comply with food labeling standards stipulated in the Food Labeling Act.
Major Criteria

  • The name of the manufacturer is not the name of the store, but the personal or corporate name of the business operator, and the factory Address must be listed at home.
  • The expiration date shall be set based on scientific evidence. Etc.

Laws and regulations other than food-related

Preliminary confirmation related to the City Planning Act and Building Standards Act

Restricted areas stipulated by the City Planning Act include areas where food-related business is not possible or buildings are restricted.
In addition, there are laws and regulations related to buildings, such as the Building Standards Law.
Be sure to check the restricted area of your home and the contents of building restrictions in advance.
