Introduction of Asahi Ward School, Home and Regional Collaboration Projects

There are 11 junior high school districts in Asahi Ward, where schools, homes, and communities are connected to each other to create the future for children. I would like to introduce some of these activities.

We will continue to introduce the activities of each junior high school district in the future, so please look forward to it!

This time, we have created a pamphlet summarizing the efforts of several junior high school districts so that the efforts of schools, homes, and regional cooperation projects can be promoted more effectively! Check it out!

The 21st event was held in 2024.
Youth instructors, local volunteers, junior high school volunteers, etc. cooperate to perform various recreations such as curry, yakisoba making, and thread telephone production, and provide elementary school students (mainly 4th to 6th graders) with summer memories.

The second graders are divided into groups of 2 to 8 people, and are engaged in activities to experience work at local offices. . There are various types of business establishments, including agriculture, eating and drinking, retailing, driving schools, and sports clubs, and we also offer hands-on activities at the Yokohama Zoo ZOORASIA, nursery schools, and welfare facilities. Students choose places to experience based on their interests and future dreams, and learn not only work experiences but also how to greet and behave as a member of society.

With the cooperation of Asahi police department, students play a central role in calling for information provision around Futamatagawa Station. Students call on passers-by and distribute leaflets to resolve the case. In order to keep the incident from weathering, students have taken over this initiative as an ongoing activity.

Local residents, parents and students cooperate and carry out a lot of flowers as part of the school beautification. We carry out preparations such as weeding flower beds and work up to flower planting jointly. Through continuous efforts to create more beautiful schools, schools, homes, and communities are interacting with each other to deepen connections.

Local elementary and junior high school students participate in evacuation shelter training at elementary and junior high schools, and experience helping to establish and operate the refuge.
The children participating in the training not only raise their awareness of disaster prevention, but also contribute to strengthening local connections as leaders in local activities, including future regional disaster prevention.

At the local exchange facility "Hot Sakonyama" in Sakonyama Shopping Street, a study session for junior high school students is held about twice a month. We support children's learning with the cooperation of Sakolab, a student group at Yokohama National University, which conducts community activities in housing complex Sakonyama. Anyone can apply and study, so it is full of participants before the regular test.

Children from Asahi Junior High School and Nakazawa Elementary School participate in evacuation shelter training in the city where they live. We are actively engaged in many trainings, including installation of temporary toilet and hoses and guidance on transporting injured in supply of hot meals. In many cases, junior high school students take the leadership of elementary school students and local residents, making it a reliable leader in evacuation shelter.

A music exchange meeting in Makigahara Junior High School District is held every year and has a tradition of more than 10 years. Not only the students of Makigahara Junior High School, but also the elementary school studenｔ of four elementary schools in the block (Makigahara Elementary School, Minamihonjyuku Elementary School, Futamatagawa Elementary School, Sachigaoka Elementary School) and each school PTA participate and interact through chorus.
It is loved in the community as a wonderful meeting where you can touch beautiful singing voices and share the feeling of enjoying music.

Every year, PTAs from each school in the block hold various events in elementary school studenｔ to foster and interact with students.
This time, a mathematics teacher entertainer Takata, who delivers the excitement of arithmetic and mathematics to children and conveys the joy of learning, says, "I can learn happily! ? A arithmetic show was held at Zenbe Elementary School. elementary school studenｔ and the students, as well as their parents, were very excited, and the time full of smiles passed quickly.

In 2024, elementary school studenｔ students, together with their parents and the local community, carry out a community cleanup activity called “Tooka Junior High School Global Environment Cleanup Strategy” every year. Participants held gloves, garbage scissors, and plastic bags starting from elementary and junior high schools in the school district, and cleaned each area together.
Through this activity, not only clean the town, but also promote intergenerational exchanges with children and local generations, increasing awareness of environmental beautification, and deepening local bonds. .

Every year, the brass band participates in the Warm Concert held by the Wakabadai Union Neighborhood Association. We played Christmas songs and hit songs of JPOP and excited the venue. A large number of people gathered at the venue and listened to the powerful performances that were performed one after another.
Through the performance, it is not only an opportunity for children to grow up, but also an activity to deliver warm time to the community.
