The industrial water supply business has one independent corporate accounting separately from the water supply business, and is managed as a company with independence through an independent accounting system.
In business management, we have formulated the “Yokohama Water Supply Long-Term Vision” and its implementation plan, the “Mid-Term Management Plan,” and are steadily promoting our business with the aim of achieving our policy goals.
The status of the business (ordinary) income and expenditure in the industrial water supply business was resolved in fiscal 2004, and since then, we have maintained sound management by securing a balance of income and expenditure.
Of the profit and loss, most of the income is from water supply factories based on supply contracts.
On the other hand, expenditures for business management include contributions required for maintenance and management of water intake and water supply facilities in co-operated facility with the Yokohama City Water Supply Business, personnel expenses and depreciation expenses, as well as interest expenses related to borrowing funds (corporate bonds).
In addition, with regard to capital expenditures, we expect that the pipelines laid at the time of its establishment will undergo full-scale renewal, and construction improvement costs will increase in the future. Therefore, in light of the current low interest rate situation, we will secure financial resources for construction improvement costs and steadily promote our business by actively utilizing corporate bonds.
The contracted water volume for industrial water reached a peak of 312,200 cubic meters per day (end of the fiscal year) in 1976 due to an increase in water demand accompanying high economic growth. In recent years, it has been declining gradually due to the rationalization of water use through the construction of an energy-saving and water-saving society, and has been slightly decreasing at about 260,000 cubic meters.
In the future, although the economy is on a recovery track, demand for industrial water will be stagnant and toll revenues will remain sluggish due to the further progress of corporate water conservation activities.
