On Friday, January 1, 2016, NHK World "Challenge to Climate Change-Japan International Contribution-"
Introducing the activities of Yokohama City!
1. Outline of the program
COP21 was held in December 2015. Addressing climate change is an important and urgent task for countries around the world. In particular, a major theme is how developed countries will provide support to developing countries in the future to prevent global warming. The program introduces various international cooperation that Japan's international aid organization, JICA, is conducting in the field of climate change.
The city of Yokohama has formed a team of departments within the agency to address a wide range of urban issues in Bangkok, under the Bangkok Metropolitan Climate Change Master Plan supported by JICA, and is providing comprehensive cooperation to create a low-carbon city. The program featured cooperation with the Bangkok Metropolitan Government on climate change and Yokohama's efforts to combat global warming.

2.Status of initiatives in Bangkok in the Y-PORT project
Yokohama City is engaged in "International Technical Cooperation (Y-PORT Project)" through public-private partnerships utilizing Yokohama's resources and technologies, with the aim of supporting the resolution of urban issues in emerging countries and supporting the overseas expansion of companies. In October 2012, a memorandum of understanding was signed for the development of a sustainable city. In addition to the Bangkok Climate Change Master Plan, which is supported by JICA, we provide cross-sector cooperation such as energy saving and waste disposal.
In addition, in order to utilize the bilateral credit system promoted by the Ministry of the Environment, since fiscal 2013, local workshops have been held between four cities and companies, and business matching of low-carbon technologies possessed by city companies and local needs has been promoted.
