In order to realize a decarbonized society, Yokohama City is working to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% by fiscal 2030 (compared to fiscal 2013).
In fiscal 2023, as part of this initiative, Transportation Bureau will use non-fossil certificates* from incineration plants in Resources and Waste Recycling Bureau for electricity on the Green Line to procure electricity with virtually zero CO2 emissions. As a result of this initiative, the Green Line will start operation on April 1, 2023 with virtually zero CO2 emissions.

※Non-fossil Certificates
A certificate issued by a national certification body as a proof of electricity that does not use fossil fuels such as oil (zero CO2 emissions). If this certificate is combined with the power generated at thermal power plants, etc., it can be regarded as "power with virtually zero CO2 emissions."
