We renewed hands-on display of transparent solar power panels on the first floor of the ward office.
From March 2024, we added a new exhibit using four power generation panels.
Light shines on the transparent window glass to generate electricity, and the exhibits are in operation.
By having the children who will lead the next generation actually experience the latest solar power generation mechanism, they will be interested in the transition to renewable energy and a deoxygen lifestyle.
About the exhibition
Yokohama City is working toward the realization of Zero Carbon Yokohama, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% in fiscal 2030 and decarbonize by 2050.
Isogo Ward has the Negishi Refinery of ENEOS Co., Ltd. and Isogo Ward have been working together to implement decarbonization projects, including bus tours for elementary school students and introduction of decarbonization initiatives in the Yokohama Isogo Ward version.
Isogo Ward signed a partnership agreement with ENEOS Holding Co., Ltd. in December 2022, and a transparent solar panel for windows (hereinafter referred to as the "power generation panel") loaned by the company has been on display at the Isogo Ward General Government Building since March 2023.
Exhibitions using power generation panels
Conventional solar panels generate electricity mainly using visible light, while transparent solar panels generate electricity mainly using ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) light. Since the absorption of visible light is low, transparency is maintained.
