We introduce six kinds of "tree of ward" of Izumi Ward!
Purpose of Tree Establishment in the City
In Izumi Ward, there are many rich natural environments such as greenery and water, and we are working with residents of the city in conservation, but the green coverage is decreasing year by year and measures are needed.
In order to create the future of Izumi Ward and to enhance and strengthen "consciousness and actions to protect and create greenery," we will establish a "tree of the ward" and realize a green city.
Six kinds of "ward trees" and reasons why children chose
In order to establish trees in the ward, we formed a "Kids Survey Team for Children's Ward (25 elementary school 5.6th graders in the ward)" and conducted surveys of trees at Children's Botanical Gardens and various places in the ward. The Wood Committee of the Ward, which received a proposal for a tree suitable for the Izumi Ward from a tree survey team in the Children's Ward, selected a candidate tree and decided by a resident vote (11,277 votes).

We made leaflet to introduce tree of ward! (issued in November 2008)
As an initiative in 2008, we created a leaflet introducing the characteristics and trivia of the six types of "trees of the ward", and at the pre-event "Izu Attraction" commemorating the 150th anniversary of the opening of Yokohama Port held on November 3, 2008, Along with one of the trees in the ward, we distributed it to residents of the city.
