Cotton Community Town (Regional Wow Communication No.73)
Cotton Community Town is a building that crosses the boundaries of condominiums
Last updated on September 29, 2023.
Cotton Community Town
In the Cotton Harbor area, "Cotton Community Town (hereinafter referred to as CCT)" has begun to create a new community that promotes community connections and support.
We aim to create connections that transcend the boundaries of condominiums among condominiums in urban areas where many people respect individuals.
There, people from various positions are involved and work with a common consciousness that they do not do their best and do not overdo it.
Location within the Cotton Harbor District
I want to create a connection that transcends the boundaries of apartments!
The Cotton Harbor area is about walking to the sea side from Higashi-Kannagawa Station on JR and Keikyu Higashi-Kannagawa Station on Keikyu. There are iconic high-rise apartments and commercial facilities, and it has the taste of an urban city.
The aging of high-rise apartments in this area is progressing, and the lack of exchange between the child-rearing generation is an issue, and it was hoped that a place where multi-generational residents could interact was opened. In addition, the apartments in the district were independent, and there was no place for anyone in the area to gather. If residents of condominiums (6 buildings) in the district and elderly housing with services (1 building) can interact across barriers, they can prevent the isolation of the elderly and child-raising generations and aim to create a city where people can live with peace of mind. Volunteers of the residents have risen, and the activities of [CCT], which aims to create a new community in urban areas, have begun in 2019.
Activities support exchanges between residents, from children to adults!
Even if you have a different position, I'm involved in activities by what people can do!
The members who support the activities of CCT have the same desire to improve the community, even if they have different positions. "It takes time to build a local community. We need to work hard without being impatient, "says Hasegawa, one of the central members. We have just begun to create new places to stay in the area beyond the individual condominium residents, such as Neighborhood Association. Although there is still a bias in the participants, the challenge of creating a new community will continue to change the shape little by little from here.
