The Okurayama Memorial Hall in Yokohama was built in 1932 as the main building of the Okura Institute for Psychiatry, by Kunihiko Okura, president of the Okura Paper Store. Designed by architect Uheiji Nagano.
It is a building with a unique style beauty that combines East-West culture, incorporating Oriental designs into the pre-Hellenic (currently Creta Michele) style before ancient Greece, which is a rare architectural style in the world.
It was donated to Yokohama City in 1981 and after major renovation, it was opened in 1984 as the Okurayama Memorial Hall in Yokohama City in 1991, and was designated as the Tangible Cultural Property designated by Yokohama City in 1991.
It can be used for activities in halls and assembly rooms, as well as filming movies and TVs.
