Those who are eligible
National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) No. 1 insured person whose expected or expected birth date is February 1, 2019 or later
※Birth refers to births (including stillbirths, miscarriages, and premature births) of 85 days or more (4 months) of pregnancy.
Period during which premiums are exempted
4 months from the month before the month to which the birth (scheduled date) belongs.
In the case of multiple pregnancies, from 3 months to 6 months before the month to which the delivery (planned) date belongs.

Procedures
You can apply 6 months before the expected date of birth.
Please bring your Maternal and Child Health Handbook (when applying before giving birth), your My Number Card or documents that can clarify your basic pension number.
Handling of exemption period
The maternity exemption period is the same as the period during which the National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) premium was paid in the calculation of the basic retirement pension received in the future.
