Akuwa River

Last updated on March 31, 2021.

The Akuwa River is a 5.44km-long river that runs along the Seya Ward, Izumi Ward and Totsuka Ward, with a headwater area near Mitsu border in Seya Ward. It flows in parallel with the prefectural road Seya Kashiwao Line from headwater, and joins Hirato Nagatanikawa in Kamiyabecho, Totsuka-ku to form the Kashio River, joins Sakaigawa near Fujisawa Station, and flows to Enoshima.
In fiscal 1971, renovation work began under the Urban Ogawa River Rehabilitation Project (currently the Urban Infrastructure River Rehabilitation Project), and plans to upgrade from the confluence with Hirato Nagatanikawa to the Murashita Bridge (Seya Ward) near the Tokaido Shinkansen elevated.
In addition, in the section of about 1.5 km between Fudo Bridge (Okazu-cho, Izumi-ku) and Doyama Bridge (Shimbashi-cho, Izumi-ku), which is almost in the middle of the renovation section, maintenance is carried out according to the Akuwa River Mahoroba River Improvement Plan. Shingu Maebashi (Izumiokazu-cho) can be used as a walkway in Shingu Maebashi (Izumiokazu-cho) from the junction with Tanikawa, which can be used as a river.
