Extension of High-speed Railway Line 3 (Azamino-Shinyurigaoka)
About extension of high-speed railway line 3 (Azamino-Shinyurigaoka), we decided to commercialize as Yokohama-shi in January, 2019 because maintenance effect, cost-effectiveness of extension section and profitability were recognized, A memorandum of understanding was exchanged in Yokohama City and Kawasaki City to promote business in cooperation and cooperation with each other. In addition, in January 2020, we agreed on the outline route and station location in both Yokohama City and Kawasaki City based on opinions from citizens.
City of Yokohama, Transportation Bureau will develop and operate a section of approximately 6.5 km from Azamino Station (Aoba Ward, Yokohama City) to the south exit of Shin-Yurigaoka Station on the Odakyu Line (Ashio Ward, Kawasaki City). In the extension section, we will set up four new stations and aim to open in 2030, the target year of the Transport Policy Council report.
As a maintenance effect, the improvement of wide-area transportation convenience by enhancing the railway network, strengthening the access function to the Shinkansen, improving convenience by setting up a new station, and creating a town around the station. Revitalization of the area is expected.
In the future, we will proceed with discussions and coordination with the government and related parties, and aim to start the business as soon as possible through procedures such as the Railway Business Law, city planning, and environmental impact assessment.

(1) Formation of a wide-area railway network ・Formation of a new urban axis that connects Yokohama with the northern part of Kawasaki and the Tama area ・Securing alternative routes in the event of a transportation failure due to a disaster, etc. |
(2) Strengthening Shinkansen Access Functions ・Enhance access functions to Shin-Yokohama Station from a wide range of areas, including not only the northwestern part of Yokohama but also the northern part of Kawasaki and Tama districts. |
