〇 The "Amendment of Part of the Passport Law", which includes the implementation of electronic application for passports, came into effect on March 27, 2023.
○Based on international trends in passports and advances in information technology, the revised law was designed to improve the convenience of applicants, (2) improve the efficiency of passport administration, (3) improve the reliability of passports, and (4)COVID-19.

○The application procedure for issuing passports has been made online. As a result, it is now possible to apply electronically for the so-called "switchover application", which applies for the issuance of a new passport if the remaining validity period of the passport is less than one year and the information on the passport is not changed. By applying electronically through the minor portal, there is no need to visit the passport center at the time of application. However, it is necessary to visit the office at the time of delivery.

○If you need confirmation from family register, you will not be able to accept applications from March 27, 2023 on or after the certificate of partial family register (family register Certificate of Personal Matters) and you will be required to submit the certificate of family register (family register Certificate of All Matters).

○Augmentation of visa fields for passports has been abolished. If there is no space in the visa field of the passport, you can receive a new passport at a low cost (however, the validity period is the same as the remaining validity period of the original passport). 。

○If you have applied for a passport after March 27, 2023 and your passport has expired without receiving it within 6 months after issuance, the fee will be charged for applying for a passport again within 5 years after expiration. Please note that it will be higher than usual.
