Process

Hanno City and Naka-ku, Yokohama City have the starting point and terminal stations of a wide-area railway network with the commencement of mutual direct operation in March 2013 (Seibu Railway, Tobu Railway, Tokyo Metro, Tokyu Corporation, Yokohama Minatomirai Railway) (Seibu Ikebukuro Line Hanno Station and Yokohama High Speed Railway Minatomirai Line Motomachi-Chukagai Station). Taking this opportunity, we have been interacting between governments and residents through active participation in mutual events.
In March 2014, on the occasion of the first anniversary of mutual direct operation, we will utilize mutual characteristics and local resources to further exchange at the citizen level and the administrative level, and connect to a safe and rich community. We concluded a friendship exchange agreement with the aim of connecting.
At a special event commemorating the 20th anniversary of Minato Mirai Line held on Motomachi Shopping Street on February 10, 2024, a declaration to promote friendship exchanges aimed at deepening exchanges was made to commemorate the 10th anniversary of friendly exchanges between Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture and Naka Ward, Yokohama City.

Hanno City is located in the southwestern part of Saitama Prefecture, with Sayama City and Iruma City in the east, Ome City and Okutama Town in Tokyo in the south, Chichibu City and Yokoze Town in the west, Tokiwa Town, Ogose Town, Moroyama Town in the north. , Hidaka City.
The topography is divided into mountains, hills, and plateaus. The northwestern part is mountainous, with forests occupy about 75 percent of the city area. The southeast is hills and plateaus, and the urban area is developed in the plateau between the Koma Hills in the north and the Kaji Hills in the south. In addition, the first-class rivers of the Iruma River and Komagawa flow down from the western mountains to the eastern plateau. The climate is an inland climate on the Pacific Ocean side, but the mountains are subject to seasonal changes in temperature, and precipitation is a large area in Saitama Prefecture. In 1954, the ninth municipal organization in the prefecture was enforced, and in the old days it flourished as a town of forestry and textiles. Since the 1940s, residential land has been developed, and high schools, universities, factories, etc. have been located, and it has changed as a suburban residential city in the Tokyo metropolitan area. In 2005, it merged with the former name Kurimura and became the third largest city in the prefecture. Located within about 50 km from the city center and in an environment with good traffic access, Hanno City, blessed with nature of greenery and clear streams, has long been living and culture of people through coexistence with rich forests and people. History and industry have been nurtured. Against this background, on April 1, 2005, we declared a "forest culture city" and are working on town development aiming to be a comfortable city where nature and urban functions are in harmony.
