■ The amount of drinking alcohol that increases the risk of lifestyle-related diseases is 40g for men and 20g for women per day.
The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's “Guidelines on Healthy Drinking” published in 2024 resulted in an increase in the risk of lifestyle-related diseases among adults aged 20 and over who do not have underlying diseases.
Women have less water in the body due to physique compared to men, and have the effect of female hormones, and the amount of pure alcohol per day is less than men.
There are diseases that increase the risk even with a small amount of intake.
How long do you usually drink?
Calculation formula for pure alcohol
Amount of pure alcohol (g) = Amount of alcohol (ml) x alcohol content (%) ÷ 100 x 0.8 (weight of alcohol)
(Example) In the case of 350ml beer with an alcohol content of 5%
Amount of pure alcohol (g) = 350 × 5 / 100 × 0.8 = 14g
How long does alcohol remain in the body?
How long does it take to break down alcohol?
In order to avoid drunk driving, let's check using "alcohol watch" announced by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
(Note) The time of disassembly is only a guide. It depends on your constitution.

■ The relationship between drinking and lifestyle-related diseases
Risk of onset by disease in Japan and amount of alcohol consumed (pure alcohol)
In the case of high blood pressure, male esophageal cancer, or female hemorrhagic stroke, drinking itself can increase the risk of developing even if it is a small amount.
Other diseases can also increase the risk of onset if you continue to drink the amount shown on the right.
The impact of drinking on diseases varies from person to person, but please refer to it.
※: Current research
The numerical values in the "Reference" column are: Reference value (approximate number) when divided by 7 based on the numerical values of the research results.
「0g<」: Drinking alcohol will increase the risk.
"No related": The amount of alcohol that is not considered to be related to the amount of alcohol consumed (pure alcohol)

■ Are you able to break down alcohol with your body?
The decomposition of alcohol contained in drunk liquor involves a substance called decomposition enzyme in the body.
The strong and weak behavior of decomposition enzymes in the body that decomposes alcohol varies greatly from person to person.
If disassembling enzymes are weak, drinking may turn your face red, motive or nausea. This is called a "flashing reaction."
People with red faces are susceptible to "flashing reactions" and have been found to be weak in the function of decomposition enzymes.
Even if such people drink for many years and can drink without being uncomfortable, there is data that the risk of oral cancer and esophagus cancer caused by alcohol is extremely high. Be careful.
Alcohol patch test
An alcohol patch test is a simple way to know the function of decomposition enzymes.
A patch with 70% ethanol soaked in gauze is applied to the upper arm for 7 minutes to determine the color of the skin in that part after peeling.
Those who turn red in this test are those who are prone to "flashing reactions" = "flashers". Be especially careful when drinking.
How to get an alcohol patch test
■ How can I get along with alcohol?
Determine the amount in advance and drink alcohol
It has the effect of reducing the concentration of alcohol in the blood and making it hard to get drunk.
Mix water, etc. to reduce the alcohol content and drink alcohol. Drink little by little, choose a drink without alcohol, etc.
Avoid drinking every day
If you are pregnant, under the age of 20, cannot drink, or are prohibited by a doctor, do not drink or refuse.
The impact of drinking on the body, etc. depends on (1) age, (2) gender, and (3) constitution.
①Does the function of the age brain decrease?
There is data that young people in their teens and twenties are in the process of brain development, and that heavy drinking impairs brain function.
Elderly people are more susceptible to drunk with the same amount of alcohol due to a decrease in the amount of water in the body. Also, if the amount of drinking exceeds a certain amount, the possibility of developing dementia increases.
②Be especially careful about gender women!
Women have less water in the body than men, less alcohol that can be decomposed, and more susceptible to alcohol due to the action of female hormones. As a result, there is a significant impact on the body.
③Be especially careful if you have a red face!
The function of decomposing enzymes in the body that decomposes alcohol is strong and weak, but it varies greatly from person to person. People with weak decomposition enzymes have a particularly high risk of developing disease.
■ If you eat it with alcohol, this kind of food
About 20% of alcohol is absorbed by the stomach and about 80% by the intestine.
There are foods that are compatible with alcohol, which can slow down the absorption of alcohol and help break down.
As vitamins and minerals are lost, take vegetables, seaweed, beans, and protein together.
Those that contain a lot of protein
Those that contain a lot of vitamin B and vitamin C
■ Don't forget to brush your teeth after drinking.
Isn't you sleeping after drinking?
Drinking alcohol reduces the amount of saliva due to the dehydration of alcohol and reduces the self-cleaning effect. As a result, bacteria in the oral cavity increase, increasing the risk of cavity and periodontal disease.
In addition, sugar in alcohol becomes food of cavity.
Let's try to brush your teeth if you drink it.
