In Yokohama City, the responsibilities of the owner are stipulated in the "Yokohama City Ordinance on the Protection and Management of Animals".

In recent years, there have been many complaints about domestic dogs. In particular, the removal of manure during a walk and the squeal of dogs are noticeable.
The owner must manage it so that it does not bother others due to the squeals and smells of animals. In addition to performing basic discipline, be sure to attach a lead (leash) when walking, and clean up manure properly.

If your dog bites a person, you must notify Health and Welfare Center by the day after you know the fact. You must also have health check-up in veterinarian within two days to see if you have rabies.

You are required to register your dog. Dogs older than 90 days must complete the registration procedure (registration is once in a lifetime).
At the same time, you are required to receive a rabies vaccination once a year (injection fees vary from veterinary clinic to veterinary clinic).

  (Registration fee: 3,000 yen, injection fee: 550 yen)

※dog's license tag is useful for a dog's life.
If you move, it will also prove that dog's license tag has been registered, so please do not lose it.

In Yokohama City, in cooperation with the Yokohama City veterinarian Association, we issue rabies vaccination and rabies vaccination votes at local business sites.

Notification is required when the dog's Address or owner changes, such as when moving or transferring a dog. In addition, please report as we perform cancellation of registration when dog died.

[When you move in from outside Yokohama to Nishi Ward]
Please bring the "dog's license tag" and "rabies vaccination completed vote" issued in the original Address area to the counter.
We will exchange "dog's license tag" with Yokohama for free. If lost, it will be reissued (fee 1,600 yen).

In the case of a change in Address (in Nishi Ward, Nishi Ward and other wards) in Yokohama, dog's license tag will not be replaced.

Please bring "dog's license tag" and "rabies vaccination completed vote" to the department in charge of the local government where you are moving, and notify the change. If you have lost dog's license tag, please re-issue it at the local government where you are moving.
