This system was established in April 2008 to reduce the burden on households due to the burden of both medical expenses and nursing care expenses.
Out-of-pocket expenses for the same employee health insurance and The Long-term Care Insurance within the household ※If the total amount for one year (from August to July of the following year) exceeds the copayment limit, the excess amount will be paid by application.
However, if the co-payment of employee health insurance or The Long-term Care Insurance is 0 yen, it will not be eligible for payment.
The copayment limit is set according to the age structure and income category of household members.
Please note that after two years from the day after the base date (July 31 every year), the statute of limitations will expire and you will not be able to apply.

※Amount deducted from high medical costs or high-cost nursing care (prevention) service costs
