About exchange between Totsuka-ku, Yokohama-shi and Shimokawa-cho, Hokkaido
Both Yokohama City and Shimokawa Town, Hokkaido, have advanced environmental activities as environmental model cities.
In addition, between the Kawakami district of Totsuka-ku and Shimokawa-cho, exchanges were being promoted, such as carbon offsets for forest development in Shimokawacho at the recreation tournament in the Kawakami district held in 2010. . Totsuka Ward also joined this regional alliance, and on August 6, 2011, the Totsuka Ward, Kawakami and Shimokawa towns signed an agreement. We carry out various exchanges, such as exchanges between elementary school students through environmental education and sales of special products of Shimokawacho at the Tozuka Fureai Kumin Festival held every fall. Since Yokohama City and Shimokawa Town were selected as Environmental Future City in December 2011 and SDGs Future City in 2018, we continue to promote exchanges and cooperation in a wide range of fields beyond the environmental field.
