Interview with female employees <Reasons for the ease of working in the “rest” environment>
Medical Collaboration Department: Maika Fujita (10 years after joining the company)
He retired after serving as a wedding planner at a bridal-related company in his previous job. In 2010, he joined the Medical Corporation Yuaikai Yuai Clinic and assumed his current position. In private, the mother of two children raising children aged 5 and 3. In January of this year, I wished to work from shorter working hours to full-time. I heard the secrets of flexibly responding to changes in child care and work.
Question 1. What was the decisive factor for choosing this company?
"In my previous job, as a wedding planner, I liked to face and propose customers. However, I felt the difficulty of continuing to work in the future in a work system early in the morning and late at night, and retired after marriage. When "I want to work" and "I want to have room", I decided to join because I was fascinated by the atmosphere of maternity leave and childcare leave at our hospital and the large number of female staff."
Question 2. What is your current job description?
"I have been transferred to the Medical Coordination Department since this year and have been working full-time. The Medical Coordination Department guides hospitals, doctors, and companies to the hospital's examination details and consultation methods, and is in charge of companies. I still have a lot to learn and it's hard, but I feel it's very rewarding to be able to make the best proposals to each and every customer."
Question 3. From short time to full time. Isn't it difficult to return home on time?
"It's very hard. Since I've just moved, I'm desperate to take over and learn the details of my work. Your child will be picked up, so you need to finish your work by time. When I learned my work, I got a decision on what I should prioritize, and I was able to concentrate on what I need to do today. Since our hospital can work with a free address (a work style where you can freely use vacant seats without fixed seats), you can exchange information across other departments. I think it's also a reason why I can work smoothly because there is an atmosphere that teaches me what I don't know."
Question 4. Did you have any concerns before maternity leave?
"Before maternity leave, I was filled with terribly sorry that it would bother everyone rather than anxiety. However, there were many seniors and synchronization of maternity and childcare leave in the hospital, and I had a better understanding and cooperation system than I thought. With the role model, we were able to take maternity leave and childcare leave without any hesitation. It's a small thing, but I was very happy to carry heavy luggage instead, and during the cold and flu epidemic season, nurses kept a distance from patients who were casually in poor physical condition, and I was very careful . It is also reliable to be able to share information on seniors in the workplace, synchronization and childcare."
Question 5. Have you been worried about returning from maternity leave or childcare leave?
"I wasn't worried and wanted to return to work early. I realized that there were many people in the company who had taken maternity leave or childcare leave, so I knew that it was easy to take a break and return home. As a result, the first person returned in one year and four months and the second person returned in seven months. Even if I have to take a rest due to sudden fever of a child, I have an understanding of the workplace and feel comfortable working in an environment where I can rest."
Question 6. Balancing childcare and work. Do you have a family follow-up?
"My parents live in the neighborhood, so I sometimes ask you to take care of my child. The family is also cooperative and supported by children. I realized that when I came home, there was a letter from a child and said, "I did my best for mom work."…I was glad to be praised by my child on a nothing day, and I decided to do my best. Also, since I was a young child, I think that if the appearance of a working mother is natural, I don't have to feel lonely later."
Question 7. Is your current work style ideal?
"I've been assigned to the department I wanted from when I joined, so I'm fulfilling now. Of course, it is difficult to learn the work, but I am satisfied with the work from start to finish. In our hospital, “culture that doesn't work overtime” has permeated the staff, and the sound of turning the time card on a regular basis is called “the sound of happiness” (laughs). I feel that it is an environment where employees can finish their work in time, an environment where they can rest when they need sudden breaks due to their children's convenience, an environment where they can take advantage of the natural system, and work and private with full power."
Question 8. What are your goals for the future?
"I've been working hard during maternity and childcare leave, and I've been working with my seniors and colleagues around me while working shorter hours, so I want to contribute to this hospital this time. We are also considering acquiring qualifications to acquire the knowledge necessary for work, so our most recent goal is to improve our skills by utilizing the internal training system."
The "rest room" where our company's recommended points/staff spends lunch breaks.
I can't go out when wearing uniforms and white coats, so I spend my lunch break here. There are water servers, vending machines and refrigerators, and you can also order lunch boxes. The fun is to relax on the reclining chair during a break after lunch, watch TV or chat with colleagues to relax.
Message from the President
President: Mr. Atsushi Katayama
From the beginning of the hospital's opening, I wanted to create a clinic where I can work happily and live a decent life, so I came up with a management policy that thoroughly implemented work-life balance. In particular, since we have seen in inefficient medical settings where qualifications (such as doctors) cannot concentrate on their work, it was important to have clerical staff who supported them. At present, about 60 out of 122 people are clerks, and many women are active.
Women are required to have a fluid working style due to life events. However, the reality is that many people are forced to leave their jobs for that reason. That is why we have created a work environment that is easy to rest so that women can work flexibly. Even if you take a break due to school events or poor physical condition of children, we secure the number of staff so that no burden is imposed on anyone. As a result, the rate of taking maternity leave and childcare leave is high, and the return to work has been almost 100% in the past 15 years. It is also characterized by the fact that there are many staff members who acquire them two or three times. In addition to the housing allowance, we also created a nearby housing allowance and purchased income compensation insurance that compensates for income when we cannot work due to injury or illness. We are always thinking of a system where staff can rest without worry (= work with peace of mind).
In the future, we are considering a system in which medical infrastructure can be activated throughout the region, medical institutions can complement each other, and everyone can work efficiently.
In addition, a variety of work styles and initiatives are increasing, but work is just a part of life. I want our employees to work in a "work style" that can value their lives for themselves, not for the company.
