What happens if I can't pay the city tax within the deadline?
If payment has not been made after the deadline, a reminder letter will be sent. Please pay as soon as you receive the notice.
If you still do not pay, you will receive a further notice.
If payment is delayed, you may be subject to delinquency. In addition, arrearages may be charged depending on the period during which payment is delayed.
If the deadline has passed
Even if the deadline has passed, you can use the payment slip sent at the beginning of the fiscal year until the date of the “payment slip handling deadline” described on the back of the payment slip.
However, after 10 days after the dunning letter has been sent, it may be forcibly collected due to delinquency. If you notice that you have forgotten to pay, please pay as soon as possible.
If there is a late payment fee, please pay at the counter of the financial institution. If you have not paid the arrears, we will send you a payment notice for the arrears at a later date, so please pay them.
Late payments
Overdue taxes may be subject to arrears at a fixed interest rate. For more information, please refer to the following page.
If you have not paid the arrears, you will receive a payment notice for the arrears at a later date, so please pay them.
About dunning letter
If you do not pay the tax within the deadline, we will send you a reminder letter (notification of unpaid). Please pay using the payment slip.
If you lose your payment slip, you can contact us and we will reissue the payment slip.
In addition, it takes about 1-2 weeks from payment at financial institutions until payment data is sent to ward office. Please note that a reminder may be sent due to a mistake.
About the notice
If you do not pay even after sending the dunning letter, we will send you a notice. Please pay by the deadline indicated on the notice.
If payment is still not made, we will dispose of it as follows. (This is a system that is forcibly collected.)
If you are unable to pay tax, please contact the person in charge on the notice.
Non-payment
If the city tax is not paid even after the deadline, the property (salary, deposit, life insurance, real estate, etc.) of the delinquent person will be seized in order to maintain fairness with the tax paid by the deadline. I will seize it.
Property seized due to delinquent disposal cannot be disposed of freely. (For example, in the case of bank deposits, the amount you hold will not be able to withdraw freely.)
The seized property will be collected and sold for public auctions, and will be allocated to unpaid city taxes.
A series of procedures such as seizures, collections, and public auctions are called "delinquent disposal."
To prevent this from happening, please cooperate with tax payment within the deadline.
Refund of city tax
If you pay too much tax, such as when you pay twice by mistake, we will send you a refund notice. Please fill in the account of the transfer destination in the enclosed "Refund Account Transfer Request Form" and return it.
Usually, it will be transferred to your account in about a month. (However, during the busy season, it may take more time to transfer.)
