No.10 GREEN × EXPO2027 1,000 days before the holding of Sidmore Cherry Blossoms were planted.

　Saturday, June 22, 2024, was just 1000 days before the GREEN x EXPO2027.
　In Kanazawa Ward, we held a tree-planting ceremony for the Sidmore Cherry Blossoms donated by the Sidmore Cherry Blossom Society Yokohama, along the Fudo Pond in Nomi-do Ryokuchi.
　Meiji period, the writer Eliza Sidmore, who was fascinated by the beauty of cherry blossoms in Japan during his trip, inspired him to make the Potomac River in Washington a famous cherry blossom spot. Her enthusiasm moved both Japan and the United States, and succeeded in planting seedlings. Today, the whole area is a famous cherry blossom spot where the National Cherry Blossom Festival is held grandly.
　The cherry blossoms of Potomac returned to Japan and planted them next to Ms. Sidmore, who sleeps at a foreign cemetery in Yamate, Yokohama, is "Shidmore Sakura". This time, it is a valuable sapling that has been planted with branches separated from this Shidomore cherry tree.
　On the day of the event, Chiaki Umemoto, the representative director of the association, gave a detailed explanation of the history of "Sidmore Sakura". "When Perry arrived, I was anchored off Koshiba in Kanazawa Ward, and planting Sidmore cherry blossoms in Kanazawa Ward is significant in terms of Japan-U.S. relations."
　In addition to Kota Igarashi, a former JUDY AND MARY drummer and former JUDY AND MARY's drummer, Mr. Kota Igarashi, Chairman of the Nokendai District Union Neighborhood Associations, Vice Chairman Yokoyama of 5-chome Nomidai Neighborhood Associations, and Diet member Yokohama City Council also rushed in.
　Sixth graders from Nomi Tainan Elementary School also participated, and after the soiling and watering, they took a commemorative photo.
　Along with the shout of "Sa-ku-La", we opened both hands wide and photographed with the image of the petals opening together. .
　The opening of GREEN x EXPO2027 will begin on March 19, 2027. It's just the cherry blossom season. It seems that the seedlings of Shidmore cherry blossoms bloom in about three years, so you may see the Shidmore cherry blossoms to celebrate the event. I can't wait from now on.
