Yokohama Science Frontier High School

Yokohama City opened Yokohama Science Frontier High School, a full-time science and mathematics department, in April 2009, celebrating its 150th anniversary and the 120th anniversary of municipal administration. With the aim of fostering human beings who are widely active in the world by utilizing knowledge of advanced science and technology, we nurture "inquiry skills", "creativity", "communication skills" and "independence skills" through "exploration of knowledge through surprise and excitement".

Develop human beings who are widely active in the world by cultivating the spirit and attitude of learning deeply and deeply, drawing out the potential originality of each student, cultivating logical thinking and sharp sensibilities that support the future of Japan, and utilizing advanced science knowledge and skills.

The “Basic Plan” (established in December 2005) lists the following three roles that the school plays.

• Building the foundation for the formation of advanced cities in science and technology
• Promotion of human resource development through collaboration with industry and academia
• Promotion of elementary, middle, high and high school cooperation as a pioneer in educational reform

At Yokohama Science Frontier High School, we will play a special role in leading the entire Yokohama Municipal High School and support the future of Yokohama.
We will continue to develop our products.

"Super Science High School (SSH)" designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) is an initiative to foster science and technology human resources who will lead society in the future by cultivating students' scientific exploration abilities through advanced science and technology, science and mathematics education. Yokohama Science Frontier High School has been SSH designated school since 2010.
