2025 tax (non-taxable) certificate issuance start date

In Motoichi, we start issuance of municipal tax, prefectural tax, forest environmental tax taxation (non-taxable) certificate of 2025 (income during 2024) as follows.
Please note that the issuance start date varies according to payment methods of municipal tax, citizen of the prefecture tax, the forest ecotax.

What is a taxable (non-taxable) certificate?

The “Municipal Tax / Prefectural Tax / Forest Environmental Tax Tax Exemption (Tax Exemption) Certificate” is calculated based on the income for one year from January 1 to December 31 of each year. Tax amount * ".

How to request a certificate

Online application for tax certification (smartphone application)

You can apply for a municipal tax, prefectural tax, and forest environmental tax tax (non-taxable) certificate online using your smartphone and My Number card. Your certificate will be delivered to Address, where resident certificate is located, within 2 days to 1 week.

Request by mail

Requests for municipal tax, prefectural tax, and forest environmental tax tax (non-taxable) certificates are also accepted by mail. In particular, immediately after the start of issuing the tax (non-taxable) certificate for the new fiscal year (mid-May to mid-June every year), the window is very crowded every year. Please cooperate with the request by mail.

Necessary documents, etc.

  1. Taxable (non-taxable) certification application: Download the style (outside site) and use it.
  2. Fixed amount exchange or ordinary exchange for the fee (300 yen per copy): Purchase and enclose the required amount of fixed amount or ordinary exchange at Japan Post Bank (post office savings window). Please do not enter anything in the fields of "Designated Recipient" and "Name". In addition, please cooperate to send those with an expiration date of one month or more.
  3. Reply envelope: A stamp attached, please enclose the taxpayer's Address, etc., and enclose it. If you wish to have express delivery, please indicate so on the reply envelope and attach a considerable stamp.
  4. If you have changed your name at the place you moved out of Yokohama City, please enclose a document that shows both your current name and your old name.
  5. If you have moved or moved out of Yokohama, please enclose a document that shows the relationship between your current address and the former Address.
    (Examples of enclosed materials: driver's license (both sides), copy of my number card (front surface), copy of resident certificate, etc.)

(Note 1) A power of attorney from the taxpayer (PDF: 170KB) is required.
(Note 2) A power of attorney (PDF: 170KB) is required for relatives of living together who make a living, if they are in a separate household in resident certificate or currently live outside Yokohama. Also, in cases where it is difficult to estimate the delegation, a relative of living together who earns a living cannot issue a certificate.

Identity Confirmation Documents

Please bring a document that can identify the person coming to the counter.
In principle, documents with a photo of the person issued by the following public office are required.

  • My Number Card (Personal Number Card)
  • Driver's license
  • Passport (passport) or Basic Resident Register card with photo
  • Resident Card or Special Permanent Resident Certificate (alien registration certificate)

If you do not have these documents, you may be asked to confirm multiple identification documents, such as your health insurance card or National Pension Plan (Kokumin Nenkin) notebook.
※ If you do not have a photo of your face, such as a employee health insurance Certificate of Eligibility or Health Insurance Card, Basic Pension Number Notification or pension Handbook, or a certificate with a face photo issued by an organization other than a public office, you may be asked to present other identification documents or ask questions. Those with a validity period are limited to those within the validity period.
※ Please note that the notification card for My Number will not be used as identification documents.

Fees

1 case (1 copy) 300 yen
Fee calculation example:
1.600 yen (300 yen x 2 cases) if one tax certificate for 2024 and one tax certificate for 2023 are obtained.
2.900 yen (300 yen x 3 cases) if you and your two children need one tax certificate for 2024.
