Tax payment certificate

1. Contents of certification

Yokohama City has issued the following tax payment certificates. Please confirm with the submission address in advance what kind of proof is required.

Taxes to be certified

  • Individual Municipal Tax, Prefectural Tax, Forest Environmental Tax
  • Property tax (land and houses, depreciable assets)
  • light motor vehicles tax (keijidosha-zei) (by type)
  • Corporate municipal tax
  • Office tax
  • City tobacco tax※
  • Bathing tax※
    ※If you need a tax certificate for city tobacco tax and bath tax, please contact the Finance Bureau Tax Administration Division.

For taxes other than the above, please refer to "Tax Payment Certificate Issued at Tax Office or Prefectural Tax Office".

Type of certification

  • Certificate of tax payment
    Prove the amount to be paid, the amount paid, etc. for which the tax obligation has been determined.
  • light motor vehicles tax (keijidosha-zei) (by type) Tax payment certificate (for continuous inspection)
    Issued for vehicle inspection or name change.
    ※In principle, the three-wheeled and four-wheeled light motor vehicles does not need to present a tax payment certificate at the continuous inspection window using the light JNKS.
  • Proof that has never been delinquent / has not been delinquent
    Issued for the purpose of liquor sales license application, application for certification of public interest corporations, etc., application for bid participation qualification, etc.

We have not issued proof that there is no payment. Please check the required tax items and year, and apply for a normal tax payment certificate.
Please contact the ward office Tax Division Tax Receipt Section for proof of other tax matters.

2. Fees

300 yen per tax per fiscal year

  • There is no charge for light motor vehicles tax (keijidosha-zei) (by type) tax payment certificate (for continuous inspection).

3. How to apply

Online application

You can apply online using your My Number Card or digital certificate (only the taxpayer).
The certificate will be sent to Address, where resident certificate is located, within 2 days to 1 week after payment of the fee.

Application by mail

Please mail required documents to the ward office Tax Division Tax Receipt Section, where you are taxed.
The certificate will be sent to Address, where the taxpayer's resident certificate is located.

  • If you are in a hurry or have a reliable receipt, please use express mail or registered mail for mailing to ward offices or return envelopes.

  2. Fixed amount postal money order or ordinary money order for the fee
    Please do not fill in the fields of "Designated Recipient" and "Name".
    Please send one with an expiration date remaining one month or more.
    ※Fixed amount currency exchange and ordinary exchange are handled at postal savings counters at Japan Post Bank and post offices. A fee will be charged for purchase. For more information, please contact the office.
  3. Reply envelope
    Please put a stamp and fill in the address (the taxpayer's Address). (If a power of attorney is enclosed, it cannot be sent to proxy/agent.)
    ※If you move out of Yokohama and move further, please enclose a certificate issued by a public office that shows the transition of Address. (Example: copy of both sides of driver's license, etc.)

Return of light motor vehicles tax (keijidosha-zei) (by type) tax payment certificate (for continuous inspection)

If you send the following documents only to the light motor vehicles tax (keijidosha-zei) tax payment certificate (for continuous inspection), you can send them to Address in proxy/agent.

  1. Application Form
    If proxy/agent is a corporation, please stamp the application form with the representative seal.
  2. Power of Attorney (original) or copy of vehicle inspection certificate
    Please indicate the applicable vehicle number.
    ※Since the owner information cannot be confirmed on the face of the electronic vehicle inspection certificate card, if the user and the owner are different or if the owner is changed in the middle of the fiscal year, the vehicle inspection certificate record items (paper media / copyable) are required.
  3. Copy of proxy/agent's identity verification documents (not required for corporations)
  4. Reply envelope
    Please put a stamp and fill in the address (Address described in the document 3 and Address in the case of a corporation).

Tax Division of each ward office in Yokohama

From 8:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays

  • The agency is not open on Saturday, Sunday, public holidays, holidays, and New Year's holidays (from December 29 to January 3).
Administrative service corner

Weekday From 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
※Excluding holidays and New Year holidays

  • In the Administrative Service Corner, depending on the Reception hours, etc., it cannot be issued immediately.
    In addition, taxes immediately after payment cannot be issued by confirmation of receipt. Please wait until payment is confirmed, or apply at the ward office.

What I need

When the taxpayer applies

Individuals

  • Application form (with the seal of the representative registered as a corporation)
  • Identity Confirmation Documents
  • Documents certifying that you belong to a corporation (employee ID card, employee health insurance qualification confirmation, health insurance card, etc. clearly stating the name of the corporation and the first and last names of the person. Or, in the case of a representative, a document certifying the qualification of the representative (certificate of registration of a corporation, etc.)
    ※Business cards cannot be used as documents proving that they belong to a corporation.
When a relative of living together who makes a living with the taxpayer applies

※If you are a separate household in resident certificate or currently live outside Yokohama, you need a power of attorney.
 In cases where it is difficult to estimate the delegation, a relative of living together who earns a living cannot issue a certificate.

If the taxpayer's heir makes a claim
When the taxpayer, proxy/agent, applies

About each required documents

Tax Payment Certificate Application Form

Identity Confirmation Documents

To verify the identity of the applicant, please present a personal identification document with a face photo issued by one of the following public offices.

  • My Number Card (Personal Number Card)
  • Driver's license
  • Passport (passport) or Basic Resident Register card with photo
  • Resident Card or Special Permanent Resident Certificate (alien registration certificate)

If you do not have these documents, you will be asked to confirm your identity verification documents such as the employee health insurance Certificate of Eligibility or Health Insurance Card or the pension Notebook.
We will make copies if necessary.
※Those with a validity period are limited to those within the validity period.
※If you move out of Yokohama and move further, you will need a certificate (My Number Card, Driver's License, etc.) issued by a public office that shows the transition of Address.

Power of Attorney

If a request is made by proxy/agent on behalf of the principal, please submit a letter of attorney or other documents that confirm that you have been authorized.

  • The power of attorney must be prepared by the power of attorney. In the case of a corporation, please stamp the representative seal of the corporation.
  • When applying for a light motor vehicles tax (keijidosha-zei) tax payment certificate (for continuous inspection), the vehicle inspection certificate (original or copy) of the relevant vehicle will be issued instead of a power of attorney.
    ※Since the owner information cannot be confirmed on the face of the electronic vehicle inspection certificate card, if the user and the owner are different or if the owner is changed in the middle of the fiscal year, the vehicle inspection certificate record items (paper media / copyable) are required.
  • The following applicant can omit the power of attorney.
    • Taxpayer, inheritance corporation caretaker
      (If you cannot confirm the fact of the appointment in Yokohama City, you may need to submit or present documents that can confirm the fact.)
    • legal representative of bankruptcy trustee, rehabilitation caretaker, liquidator, etc.
      (If the fact cannot be confirmed by the public register, etc., you will need a certificate of qualification and a copy of the commercial register to prove that you are in legal representative.)

4. Notes

  1. The tax payment certificate can be issued after payment is confirmed in Yokohama City.
    • If you pay at a financial institution or convenience store and need a tax certificate immediately, please present your receipt.
    • If payment is made using the page, credit payment, smartphone payment, or local tax common tax payment system, it will take up to 3 open agency days to confirm payment. (It cannot be issued even if you present a usage statement or a financial institution's own settlement confirmation screen, etc.)
    • If payment is made by fund transfer, it will take up to 9 open agency days to confirm payment. (Even if you show the result of the passbook withdrawal, you will not be able to issue it.)
  2. If the Address or name entered in the application form cannot be confirmed in the Yokohama City Ledger, necessary confirmation may be made.
    • If the taxpayer moves out of Yokohama and moves further, a certificate issued by a public office that shows the transition of Address is required. (Example: copy of both sides of driver's license, etc.)
    • If you apply for a person who shares fixed assets, you may need a certified copy of the registry that shows that you are a co-owner.
  3. The light motor vehicles tax (keijidosha-zei) Tax Payment Certificate (for continuous inspection) cannot be issued if there is any unpaid tax in the light motor vehicles. (Except in cases where it is unavoidable to be in arrears due to disasters, etc.)
  4. Depending on your request, you may not be able to issue a tax payment certificate other than yourself.
