What is a youth instructor?
Overview
Youth instructors are volunteers who work to foster healthy youth. For short, it is called "blue finger".
In Yokohama City, Minami Ward and other districts, we engage in activities such as recreation and festivals, planning and management of events for young people and local people to interact with each other, such as patrols and other activities.
Number of youth instructors in Minami Ward: 174 (as of June 1, 2024)
Commission and term of office
Based on recommendations from Neighborhood Association Neighborhood Associations and others, we are commissioned by the mayor of Yokohama and the governor of Kanagawa Prefecture.
The term of office is two years, currently 29 terms (from April 2026 to March 2026), and will be commissioned for the 30 terms from April 2026.

Main activities
Contact camp business
[Contents] Through the experience of group life in nature and interaction with children of different ages and local youth instructors, we aim to foster healthy youth.
[Time] From July to August (2 days and 1 night)
[Target] Youth living and studying in the city (3rd grade elementary school to junior high school students)

[Contents] We set up themes such as local activities and my dreams, solicit essays on what young people think and feel on a daily basis, and publish commendations for winning essays, reading presentations by representatives, and essay collections.
[Time] Composition recruitment (August), selection (September and October), commendation reading and essay collection (early December, public hall)
[Target] Youth living and studying in the city (3rd grade to 20 years old)
Other Activities
Meeting with elementary and junior teachers
[Contents] We will exchange opinions on the activity plan of youth instructors with elementary school elementary school student support teachers in the ward and junior high school student guidance teachers, cooperation for summer vacation, etc. [Time] mid-June
Simultaneous unified action patrol activities throughout the city
[Contents] We patrol convenience stores, parks, game centers, schools around schools, etc. in the city together with school teachers, etc., and grasp the actual situation of each region (youth hangouts, places where it is easy to hang out, etc.).
[Time] Mid-July, nighttime
Survey on Social Environment
[Contents] Investigate the status of sales of harmful books such as convenience stores and bookstores in the city, and the status of karaoke boxes, etc. in each region.
[Time] middle of July

This is a public relations magazine that summarizes our daily activities. It is issued twice a year (September and March).
