Initiatives of the Food Recycling Group “Yacycl”
What is "Yacycl" that recycles food resources?

Yokohama Bay Sheraton Hotel & Towers is located in front of Yokohama-sta.-nishiguchi and attracts customers from all over the world, not just in Japan. There are eight restaurants and bars in the hotel, which promote environmentally friendly initiatives such as actively using local ingredients from locally grown and consumed, abolishing plastic straws and recommending the use of eco-bags.
The food recycling system we started in 2008 is "Yacycl". kitchen garbage from hotel restaurants and banquet halls is converted into fertilizer using a special machine, and the fertilizer is delivered to contracted farmers in Kanagawa Prefecture. Vegetables such as tomatoes, cabbage, radish and other grown and harvested by the farmer are also used at hotel restaurants.

Effect of CO2 reduction through Yacycl initiatives

kitchen garbage, which contains a lot of water, requires a lot of fuel to incinerate, but it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by using a dedicated machine. In addition, by signing a “Yacyclic” contract with farmers in Kanagawa Prefecture, we have also reduced the energy and carbon dioxide emissions required to carry ingredients.

Vegetables grown and harvested by "Yakuru" are mainly used in the old-day buffet "Compass" on the second floor of the hotel, so please come and eat it.
The Yokohama Bay Sheraton Hotel will continue to actively promote initiatives for the SDGs, aiming to be a hotel that will continue to be loved by local residents.
