1． Purpose
In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Nishi Ward in Yokohama City in 2024, we held a photo contest utilizing Instagram.
During the recruitment period from July 1 to September 10, we posted photos of Nishi Ward's charms that we want to connect to the future, such as Nishi Ward's townscape, lively activities, and efforts to protect beautiful nature and the environment.
Out of the 501 entries submitted in the “Town Division” and “Natural Division”, 11 prize-winning works were determined by general voting.

I'm very happy with the award. This photo shows the largest fireworks display in Yokohama. I cut off the enthusiasm that many people see fireworks rising beyond the sparkling night view.

3.Exhibition
JR Yokohama Tower (80th Anniversary Exhibition of Nishi Ward, Yokohama City)
A total of 20 prize-winning works and nominated works will be exhibited along with the introduction of a commemorative magazine produced to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Nishi Ward system.
- Exhibition date and time: From Wednesday, January 8, 2025 to Friday, February 28 (from 7:00 to 23:00, last day until 9:00)
- Exhibition location: JR Yokohama Tower Atrium 3F (JR Yokohama-sta.-nishiguchi) (outside site)

Out of the submitted entries, a total of 20 prize-winning works (10 in the town section and 10 in the natural section) were selected in the primary selection.
In the second selection, winning works are determined based on your vote (general vote).

Q1 Which section should I apply for a photo taken by a person?
- No matter which department you apply for.
- Those that mainly photograph the attractiveness of people, towns, and lively activities are applied to the “town section”, and those that mainly photograph the attractiveness of people and flowers and greenery, natural scenery and environmental conservation are applied to the “natural section”. Please apply with a hashtag (#) according to the department you want to do.
※If a person is shown as a subject, be sure to obtain the consent of the person (subject) so as not to infringe on the portrait right.
Q2 Can I apply for photos that show landscapes other than Nishi Ward?
- You can apply if you mainly photograph the charm of Nishi Ward, Yokohama City. There is no problem if the scenery of other wards is partially photographed or the Nishi Ward is photographed from other wards.
Q3 Is it eligible to add "# Nishi Ward Photo Town" or "# Nishi Ward Photo Nature" to an earlier post?
- Even if you add "# Nishi Ward Photo Town" or "# Nishi Ward Photo Nature" to the content posted before the application period (before June 30, 2024), you will not be eligible for the screening. If you would like to apply for a previous post, please re-post with required items including # within the application period.
- ※Submitted photos are limited to those taken after September 2023.
Q4 Can I apply for both categories with "# Nishi Ward Photo Town" and "# Nishi Ward Photo Nature" in one post?
- If a single post is posted with both "# Nishi Ward Photo Town" and "# Nishi Ward Photo Nature", it will not be judged. For each work, please apply with # of one category.
