Nanbu-cho, Aomori

　On Saturday, November 7, 2015, at the Sakae Ward People's Festival venue, we concluded a friendship exchange agreement with the aim of continuing and expanding friendly relations between residents of Sakae Ward and Nanbu towns and local governments and aiming for mutual development. We will promote mutual exchanges, centering on rich agricultural product exhibitions that seize opportunities such as farmer stays, youth exchanges, and various events through green tourism in Nanbu-cho.

　Nanbu-cho is located in the southeast of Aomori Prefecture and adjacent to the western part of Hachinohe City. Along the coast of the Mabechi River, which flows through the center of the town, fertile plains spread in a belt shape, and paddy rice and vegetables are cultivated. In the southwestern part, Mt. Nakui at an altitude of 615m rises, and fruit tree cultivation is thriving in the hills.

　In the southern part of Aomori Prefecture, there are various kinds of fruits grown by the gardener lovingly, such as apples specially produced in Aomori Prefecture, peaches, pears, and grapes. One of the attractions is that apples are Fuji, peaches are Kawanakajima, pears are General Leclark, and grapes are Shine Muscat, and a wide variety of varieties are grown.
　Nanbu-cho has a large temperature difference between day and night, has an environment where fruits grow deliciously, surrounded by mountains, and the rich nature of the river flowing through the center of the town is attractive.

We introduce fruit picking and experience menus throughout the year.

　Children from Sakae Ward and Nanbu-cho held "Connected Picture Workshops". A total of 72 pictures drawn by a total of 72 children were arranged in a row with a single band as a clue to make one long picture. We exhibited at the Hongo Junior High School Gymnasium at the Nanbu Town Hall “Rakuraku Hall” and the Sakae Ward Min Festival. At the Teens Creation in December, we also exhibited it at Lilith Gallery, Sakae Ward Folk Cultural Center.

Three Nagawa Junior High School students from Nanbu-cho made a special appearance as a national role in the 23rd performance "Hadaka no King" of the civic theater company "Theatrical Company Pokaka".

The cultivation study of edible chrysanthemum "Afunomiya" from Nanbu-cho was carried out in Hongodai Elementary School 3rd year 2nd class. Since 30 chrysanthemum seedlings arrived from Nanbu-cho in July, with the support of local people, chrysanthemums grew steadily with the enthusiastic care of the elementary school studenｔ and others, and from mid-November, beautiful flowers began to bloom one after another. In December, we also held a tasting party for edible chrysanthemums in the home economics room, where we cultivated and harvested edible chrysanthemums are put in miso soup. The Sakae Ward flower Chrysanthemum and Nanbu Chrysanthemum, a famous product of Nanbu-cho, deepened exchanges between Sakae Ward and Nanbu-cho.

At the 18th Sakae Ward Min Festival held at Hongo Junior High School on Saturday, November 11, 2017, Kenyoshi Enburi Gumi in Nanbu-cho performed on stage and performed Enburi, a national important cultural property, in the winter traditional event, mainly in the southern part of Aomori Prefecture. In addition, at the product exhibition, Nanbu-cho's specialty “Senbei Juice” and rice and fruits from Nanbu-cho were sold.

We opened a product exhibition at Hongodai Aozora Marche, which was held at Hongodai Station Square on Saturday, July 15, 2017. Through apple juice tasting and introduction of edible chrysanthemum "Afunomiya", we promoted the products of Nanbu-cho to Sakae Ward people.
