Planning and realization of Kohoku New Town

Toward the development of Kohoku New Town, Yokohama City has set up three principles: "prevention of overexploitation", "town development with citizen participation", and "establishment of urban agriculture".
A place where local people, Yokohama City, and the public corporation gather and discuss in formulating the policy of "What kind of town will this city be?" (Kohoku New Town Development Measures Council * Later, the Kohoku New Town Business Promotion Liaison Council) was set up and the meeting was repeated many times. As a result, four town development policies were compiled.

I aimed to create a town where memories of my hometown and memories of the babbling of satoyama and brooks that I played as a child can be revived. .

The aim was to create a city that preserves the characteristics of the original land, such as mountains, slopes, and valleys, as continuously as possible, rather than fragmentary, and retains a variety of natural environments that match the characteristics of the terrain.

In addition to a green network composed of parks such as mountains, slopes, valleys, etc. and green roads, it connects pedestrian roads that functionally with major railway stations and bus stops, and places where cars pass. We aimed to create a city where people can walk safely by clearly separating places where pedestrians pass.

Incorporating the high-speed railway construction project into the development of Kohoku New Town, access to public transportation in the east, west, north and south directions, establish a living base centered on the station square, and the town center district (around Center-Kita Station, Center Minami Station) was set systematically.
