◆ Overview of the Meeting
The Asia Smart City Conference (ASCC) is an international conference that brings together representatives of Asia's leading city leaders, international organizations, academic institutions, and private companies, and aims to build an information hub for smart urban development in Asia. The conference shared visions for urban challenges and growth presented by city leaders, proposals for innovative solutions by companies and academic institutions, measures by international organizations to financially support public-private partnerships, and various global best practices.
The 7th Asia Smart City Conference was held in Yokohama from November 13 to 15 in collaboration with the World Bank Tokyo Development Learning Center (TDLC) and the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI). The theme of this year's conference, which is celebrating its seventh year, is "Market Place for Innovation through Co-Creation: Creation of Smart City Projects and Challenges for Creative Transformation of City". While the international community is working to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015, Yokohama City, which was selected by the Japanese government as a "SDGs Future City" in 2018 and is working toward achieving SDGs goals, hosted the conference.
A total of about 500 people, including representatives from 30 cities and government agencies, corporations and academic institutions from 14 countries, participated in the conference.
