The Institute for Environmental Science conducts a survey of elementary school students at 340 schools in Yokohama Municipal Elementary Schools to report on creatures found near homes and schools. In 2023, 10,061 elementary school students from 160 schools responded, and we were able to obtain valuable information that would contribute to the conservation biodiversity in the future, including the fact that the confirmation rate of beetles, which is a localized naturalized species in Yokohama, has been decreasing.
This survey has been conducted since 2013, and this is the 10th time in the 11th year. ※The number of participating elementary school studenｔ has exceeded 110,000.
※This survey was not conducted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
