On October 7, 2024 (local time), the City of Yokohama participated in the Hamburg Sustainability Conference hosted by the Federal Government of Germany, and signed the Hamburg Declaration, a declaration on the decarbonization of international shipping, at the request of its sister port Hamburg Port. It will be the only signer from Asia.
