At the naming ceremony, Godmother (Mrs. Makoto Uchida, President and CEO of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.) named "Astrid Maersk".
Takeharu Yamanaka, Mayor of Yokohama and Vice-Chair Naoko Fukushima of Yokohama City Council attended, and the Mayor presented the captain with a commemorative shield to celebrate the naming.
Yokohama City is promoting the formation of carbon neutral ports with the aim of realizing a decarbonized society by 2050, and concluded a memorandum of understanding with Marsk AS and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Co., Ltd. in December last year with the aim of promoting the use of green methanol fuel supply at Yokohama Port.
Going forward, we will continue to promote decarbonization so that Yokohama Port will become Japan's first green methanol supply base.
