The Yokohama Port Statistical Bulletin for the first half of 2024 (January to June) has been compiled.

　In the first half of 2024, cargo volume handled increased 0.3% year-on-year to 49.89 million tons, of which container cargo volume increased 6.1% year-on-year to 22.17 million tons, and container cargo volume increased 3.0% year-on-year to 1.5 million, contributing to the increase in cargo volume.
　In particular, container cargo volume increased 6.5% year-on-year, and volume handled increased 4.0% year-on-year. The main reason for this is that the number of foreign trade transit (*) containers handled increased significantly by 79.8% year on year. In particular, shipments from China to Yokohama Port, and shipments to Central and South America such as Mexico increased. Various initiatives as international container strategic ports are contributing to the increase in foreign container cargo.
※Transition: In the sense of "transship", the ship carrying cargo does not call directly to the destination, so transshipment to a ship calling at the destination at the port on the way.
