Araishinden

Araishinden was located in the current location of Niimachi. According to the topographical record Draft, the forest, which used to be the territory of the Shogunate, was developed by Chubei Arai during the Holy Year (1751-1764) and came to be called Araishinden.
In 1874 (1874), people from Ise (now Mie Prefecture) Yokkaichi Kurosaki Heichichi began cultivating tea in this area where there were many low productivity fields in slope ground.
Initially, the production of bancha was the mainstream of tea plantations, but we worked hard to improve our products, such as inviting tea masters from Uji and Suruga, which are advanced tea cultivation areas, to acquire skills.
In 1883 (1883), he exhibited at the Tea Making Association in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture. The quality has improved as Sencha is selected.
The tea garden, which was established as a local industry, was cultivated until around 1937 (1937). However, due to an increase in food production during the war, tea fields were changed to sweet potato fields and wheat fields, and after the war, tea fields gradually disappeared due to the construction of large-scale housing complex and the development of residential land.
As a remnant of the tea plantation, the school badge of the local Arai Elementary School is a stylized tea leaves and flowers, and tea trees are still planted in the school.
