Nishiya Water Purification Plant

It was 114 years ago that the water from Yokohama was filtered at the water purification plant and came out by twisting the faucet.
The opening of the port in 1859 (1859) led to a rapid increase in the population, suffering from chronic water shortages, infectious diseases, and hindering fire fighting activities.
In 1883 (1883), Kanagawa Prefecture asked British Permer to conduct a survey to create a modern water supply, and in October 1887 (1887), Japan's first iron pipe water supply was completed.
A thick water pipe was drawn from the current Tsukui-cho through Tsurugamine to the Noge-yama Reservoir. Even now, it is called the "water road".
The Nishiya Water Purification Plant was completed in 1915 (1915), and the Nishiya Water Purification Plant was constructed in 1915. It seems that many people were crowded, such as celebrating the completion and sumo wrestling for entertainment.
At that time, Hodogayacho was not a Yokohama city but a town-run water supply, so the water charge was nearly 1.6 to 3 times higher than that of Yokohama city.
Yokohama is the birthplace of modern water supply in Japan. It was in 1927 (1927) that Hodogayacho and Nishitani Village, which were the paths of the water supply, joined Yokohama City.
