A great man of Kanazawa
Shintaro Ohashi (born 1863)
Born in the Meiji era, Shintaro Ohashi was the president of a large company that made books and magazines.
He was a very famous person who helped more than 50 companies, including steel companies, insurance companies, and confectionery factories, to grow bigger, and was also active in the political world, such as members of the House of Representatives.
I was born in Nagaoka (now Niigata), and I have lived in Tokyo all the time.
Shintaro liked Kanazawa, where the scenery is beautiful, and built a villa next to Shomei-ji Temple in the Meiji era. After that, I bought the land of Kanazawa and had up to 13 Tokyo Dome land around Kanazawa Bunko Station.
In addition, Shintaro's third son ran a poultry farm near Shomei-ji Temple (a place where chickens are kept and eggs are laid).
(1)Shintaro made a lot of donations to repair Shomeiji Temple, which was destroyed by a large earthquake (Great Kanto Earthquake) in the Taisho era. The bell building of Shomeiji Temple = the bell tower was donated by Shintaro's wife.
(2)Kanagawa Prefecture has prepared 100,000 yen to fix Kanazawabunko, which was damaged by the Great Kanto Earthquake. This half, 50,000 yen, was donated by Shintaro. It was a huge amount of money in the value of the current money.
(3)In 1935, we built a building called Hakkakudo on the top of the mountain behind Shomeiji Temple, and built a visiting course with 100 Kannon Bodhisattva on the mountain around it. The bodhisattva still remains.
○There are other things! The great people of Kanazawa (Let's look for the places involved on the map of Kanazawa!)
