From fiscal 2025, we will abolish the sending of light motor vehicles tax (keijidosha-zei) (by type) tax payment certificate (for vehicle inspection)
In principle, it is not necessary to present a tax payment certificate at the time of continuous inspection (vehicle inspection)
In January 2023, the operation of the Light JNKS (light motor vehicles tax (keijidosha-zei) Payment Confirmation System) began, and in principle, Miwa and Four-wheeled light motor vehicles need to present a tax payment certificate at the continuous inspection window.
In addition, from April 2025, small two-wheeled vehicles (motorcycles with a displacement of more than 250cc) are also eligible.
Therefore, the light motor vehicles tax (keijidosha-zei) (classification rate) tax payment certificate (for vehicle inspection), which had been sent to those who have been paid by electronic tax payment, will be abolished from FY2025.
If a tax payment certificate is required
In the following cases, a tax payment certificate may be required.
- If the payment status is not reflected in the light JNKS because it is immediately after payment.
- Immediately after the purchase of a used car
- Immediately after moving to another municipality
- If the target vehicle has not been paid in the past
If necessary, please check the tax payment certificate page.
