Review of target list of Tsurumi Library in 2023

In fiscal 2023, the Tsurumi Library focused on the following goals. We devise this goal based on "Yokohama-shi medium-term plan", "Yokohama-shi education promotion basic plan", "reading activity promotion target" of each ward. (June 2024) Annual retrospective was announced.

Consider the way of redevelopment and carry out repairs and rebuilding systematically.

Perspective of Initiatives: Planned repair and rebuilding of aging City Library

Efforts

Regarding the Toyookacho complex, we will proceed with the maintenance study while incorporating the opinions of residents and other stakeholders.

Annual Review

We ask for user opinions through discussion meetings and inquiries from visitors. The status of the study was announced by posting and arranging newsletters in the building. While providing various opportunities to listen to the voices of the inhabitants of the ward, we proceeded with a cross-sectional study within the agency and formulated a basic design in March.
The current library is 42 years old and is aging, but repairs have been carried out so that the building can be operated smoothly, such as painting rooftop handrails, changing window handles, and using LED toilet lighting. Since there is a rebuilding plan, it is an issue to maintain it while keeping costs down until then.

Promotion of reading activities to enrich citizens' learning

Efforts

  1. Exhibition of books on various themes in the general and elementary school student sections (monthly)
  2. Introduction of books in the public relations Yokohama Tsurumi Ward version of "Book Time"
  3. Regular event information dissemination via the public information Yokohama Tsurumi Ward version and the library website

Annual Review

  1. It was held 23 times. Books were exhibited on panel displays held at the same time and themes according to the season.
  2. The introduction sentence of the librarian's recommended book "Book Time" has been posted 10 times each (closed in April and June). The introduction book was prepared and displayed in advance so that many people could read it immediately, which led to an increase in the number of loans.
  3. Monthly event information was sent in a timely manner on the public information Yokohama Tsurumi Ward version and the Tsurumi Library website. In addition, with the reading month as the promotion period, a special feature was set up in the November issue of the public relations Yokohama Tsurumi Ward version to raise awareness about reading promotion. The special issue has a high publicity effect and has led to a good publicity of the library.

Annual Review

  1. We received 36 requests and implemented them.
  2. Six reading sessions for adults and four talk sessions were held, with a total of 182 participants. Based on Taiga drama series in 2024, we held a lecture entitled "The World of The Tale of Genji: Culture and Life of Heian nobility" with Nobuyuki Taguchi, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Letters, Tsurumi University. Although it was a capacity of 80 people, 97 people participated because of the large number of applications. Some participants said they were interested in "The Tale of Genji" and increased their willingness to read. (December)
  3. I purchased 18 large print books.
  4. We continue to install equipment in a prominent place in front of the counter so that it is easy to understand that equipment is available.
  5. In cooperation with Tsurumichuo Care Plaza, we carried out group lending under the name of "Delivery Library". It was popular with care plaza users and provided reading opportunities for elderly people who could not come to the library. We will make use of the reading needs of the elderly obtained from this in future "delivery libraries".

Establishing children's reading habits

  1. Held "Tsurumikko Picture Book Plaza" (talking party held at the infant health checkup venue) (6 times a month)
  2. Holding of "Picture Book and Children's Song Storytelling Party" for infants (22 times)

  4. Dissemination of “school programs” and provision of services to schools in the city

Annual Review

  1. We held a total of 72 times, six times a month.

  3. One day librarians (August) and special talks (April and July) were held. We also exhibited microplastics and related books on the theme of environmental conservation at a summer vacation event in collaboration with the Tsurumi Ward Office. It was well received by children during the summer vacation and created an opportunity to understand environmental issues. (August).
  4. We distributed "programs for schools" to introduce library services to elementary and junior high schools in the city. . We borrowed books for use in classes and provided references. In addition, a story-telling lecture was held at elementary schools (September).
  5. A POP display of new materials was held every month. In addition, as a "Tsurupon no Sushibon" project, a recommended book for teens was exhibited with an introduction text. Many books introduced were lent out, and we were able to encourage the teens generation who are said to be away from reading.

Annual Review

The materials were supplemented and replaced as follows.

  1. I purchased 89 books at the picture book corner I met for the first time.
  2. I bought 78 picture story show books.
  3. We purchased 63 books useful for child-rearing generations, child-rearing support facilities and nursing care welfare facilities.
  4. I purchased 113 business-related books.
  5. We purchased 86 books that lead to multicultural understanding, multicultural coexistence, and books that are useful for the lives of foreign residents.
  6. I bought 20 aerial photographs of Tsurumi Ward.
  7. I purchased 58 reference books and standard books.

Annual Review

  1. We received a donation of the magazine "Local Tsurumi" from the Tsurumi History Society. We also cooperated with the Association in references and publicity of lectures.
