Parks in Yokohama City will be non-smoking from April 2025.
Aiming at "Yokohama, a town that nurtures the next generation of children who have raised children together," the Yokohama City Park Ordinance aims to secure an environment where children can play safely and with peace of mind, and to promote passive smoking measures in a park where many people gather and relax. We revised a part of and added "smoking" (*) as an act to prohibit in municipal parks. ※ Manufactured tobacco (cigarettes and heated tobacco) under the Tobacco Business Law are eligible.

About patrol in park
From April 1, 2025, trust company of city carries out patrol of park for public awareness enlightenment that smoking in park became prohibited act.

Partial amendments (enforced on April 1, 2025)
(Prohibition of acts)
Article 5 No one shall perform the acts listed in the following items in the park. Provided, however, that those pertaining to permission based on the provisions of Article 5 (1) of the Act, Article 6 (1) or (3) of the Act, Article 6 (1) or (2) of the Act, or Article 7 (2) Is not this limit.
(1) Capture or kill birds and beasts.
(2) Cutting bamboo trees, collecting plants, or damaging them.
(3) Discarding garbage and other filth and performing other unsanitary acts.
(4) Dig up land, collect debris, and change other land characteristics.
(5) Damage or soil the land and property in the park, or change the original state.
(6) To live in the park.
(7) To establish a structure.
(8) Depositing debris, wood, etc.
(9) Advertise or spray advertising materials.
(10) Smoking (meaning smoking prescribed in Article 28, Item 2 of the Health Promotion Act (Act No. 103 of 2002)).
(11) Doing acts that may be dangerous or disturb others.
(12) In addition to the preceding items, perform acts that hinder the use and management of the park.
