Former Yamashita Elementary School Wooden School Building and School Gate

The wooden school building part, which retains its appearance as the current Yamashita Regional Exchange Center, was built in 1942 during the time of Yamashita National School in Yokohama, and was renamed Yokohama Municipal Yamashita Elementary School in 1947. It became a branch school from 1974, and was closed as the last school in Yokohama in March 1986. As a wooden school building of Yokohama City School, it is the only existing wooden school building in the middle of the war, and it is the only precious Historic buildings that exists in the prefecture. In particular, the wooden stairs are left as they were at the time of construction, and the members at the time of construction remain in the frame. In addition, the gateposts and gates of the school gates still exist before the closure of the school, leaving the impression of elementary school.
When the closing of the Yamashita Elementary School branch school was decided, local residents strongly requested that a wooden school building be left as a place for exchange, and a wooden two-story part utilizing the old school building and a newly built one-story building Construction started in September 1988 as a Yamashita Regional Exchange Center consisting of a part and a sports plaza, and opened in April 1989.
