Procedures for registration, change, and death of dogs

- The Rabies Prevention Act requires that dogs be registered within 30 days of starting (90 days to 30 days if they are within 90 days old).
- If there is a change in the registration information or you have died, please notify us within 30 days.
Registration of domestic dogs
STEP1: Confirmation before procedure
・Do you have a microchip attached?
If you start having a dog older than 90 days, you may have registered your dog at a local government outside the city.
Please contact the Animal Protection Center (TEL: 045-471-2111) in advance to confirm the registration of microchip information.
At the same time, please refer to the website of the microchip attachment and registration system.
・Have you received metal plates with "Inu dog's license tag" from pet shops, etc.?
If you have received it, you will need to change your registration information instead of "registering your dog".
STEP2: Registration procedure
Dog dog's license tag
- When you register, you will receive a "Duken dog's license tag (silver metal plate)".
- Be sure to wear it on your dog's collar, etc.
- Registration at the Health Sanitation Division window
- Please come to the 64th window on the 6th floor of the Totsuka Ward Office.
- Registration at a veterinary clinic
- Depending on the veterinary clinic, registration procedures may be possible.

- Registration with Yokohama City Electronic Application and Notification System
- Please file from page (outside site) of Yokohama-shi electronic application, report system (registration application of domestic dog).
- *User registration is required to use the electronic application and notification system. Please refer to the User Registration page (external site).
rabies vaccination vote
- [Required items for registration]
- Documents that show the date of birth, type, and gender of your dog
- Documents that show the microchip number (15 digits) (when microchip is attached)
- Fee: 3,000 yen
- If you have a rabies vaccination Certificate (paper certificate), please present it.
- We will issue "rabies vaccination completed vote (bone-shaped metal plate)" (550 yen fee).
- At the same time, please refer to the rabies vaccination website.
Changes in Registration Items
- Please submit a report at the Health Sanitation Division window (Totsuka Ward Office, 6th floor, 64th floor) or the Yokohama City Electronic Application and Notification System.
- There is no charge.
- ※In the case of transfer from outside the city, procedures at the counter are required. Electronic application is not available.
Details of changes that require notification
- Change in Address due to relocation in the city
- Change in Address due to transfer from outside the city to the city
- Changes in dog owners (including changes between family members)
- Change the last name of the dog owner
- Change in Phone number
- Changes or additions of microchip numbers (15 digits)
- If you have lost your dog dog's license tag, you will need to re-issue it at the counter (1,600 yen fee).

- *The dog's dog's license tag number is required for notification of changes using the electronic application and notification system. Please bring your documents with your dog's license tag or dog's license tag number.
Transfer out of the city
- If you are transferred out of the city, you will need to go to the local government to which you are moving (you do not need to move out in Yokohama).
- Take the dog dog's license tag issued by Yokohama City to the local government you are moving to.
Notification of death
- Please submit a report at the Health Sanitation Division window (Totsuka Ward Office, 6th floor, 64th floor), telephone, e-mail or Yokohama City Electronic Application and Notification System.
- There is no charge.
Matters necessary for notification
- The owner, Address, your name
- TEL
- Name, type, gender, date of birth of your dog
- Date of death
- dog's license tag number (If you don't know the number, I will check it.)
