In Yokohama City, sludge generated during the process of treating sewage is collected at two sludge recycling centers in the city.
The Hokubu Sludge Treatment Plant Sludge Treatment and Effective Utilization Project involves the renewal of sludge incinerators and improved soil plants, the construction of sludge fuel conversion facilities, and the maintenance and operation of these facilities.
The operation of the facility will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 8,200 t-CO2/year, which will be a major step toward realizing a decarbonized society.
This is equivalent to a reduction of approximately 0.9% for the entire city hall and approximately 4.5% for the entire sewerage business from the emission results of 2013, which is the base year based on the Yokohama City Global Warming Countermeasures Action Plan (City Hall).
A switch-on ceremony will be held with the completion of the renewal of the sludge incinerator and the completion of all equipment, including the sludge fuel conversion facility and the improved soil plant already in operation.
