Based on the Tsushima wildcat Conservation and Proliferation Project, the Yokohama Zoo and Preservation and Research Center, City of Yokohama collaborated with the Ministry of the Environment and the Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums to breed under the breeding of Tsushima wildcat, a rare wild animal species that live only in Tsushima, Nagasaki Prefecture.
On May 27, the Yokohama Zoo received the 36th Koga Prize at the Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums Ordinary General Meeting. This is the second award in Yokohama since Preservation and Research Center was awarded the Bali Myna Protection Project in 2015.
