State of the lecture 2
In the lecture, Mr. Okubo talked in detail about how he became a United Nations employee through an introduction of his career, and also talked about his work at the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
He talked about his career as a student, his experience at the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers, and the skills and experience required by UN staff (language skills, field experience, master's degree), and what is possible and difficult to work at UNICEF under the words, "You can choose your life with goose bumps."
During the Q & A session, Mr. Okubo asked questions about the situation of child poverty and national support in Mozambique (experienced by the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers), "internal composition of UNICEF", "motivation to work at UNICEF", etc.
At a later date, students said, "I was very impressed with Dr. Okubo's strong will and talk about the original experience that led me to work at UNICEF even though I was opposed to my parents." I learned that UNICEF is also working to enhance the sustainability of the country, such as policy proposals and drafting for the country, and accompanying lobbying activities, and I think that UNICEF is not limited to temporary support.
