I received a tax notice even though I handed over light motor vehicles in March. Why is it?

Since light motor vehicles tax (keijidosha-zei) (by type) is taxed upon declaration, if proper scrapping or name change procedures have not been completed, it is determined that light motor vehicles is still owned as of April 1, and the tax obligation will continue to be incurred.
In particular, if you handed over light motor vehicles in March, you may have missed the procedure in time.
Check with the transferor or the contractor who requested the scrapping to make sure that the procedure has been completed by April 1.
