FeaturesIt blooms from mid-May to mid-June. It was named satsuki azalea (Satsuki) because it blooms in May in old calendar. It grows naturally in the Kanto region, Kyushu region, and Yakushima Island. It has long been popular as a bonsai and garden tree, and is now said to have more than 1,000 varieties. You can see the mad blooming satsuki azalea in front of the main building of Environmental Activity Support Center.
